One of the first weddings I photographed was held in the beautiful surroundings of Knowsley Hall, near Liverpool and was the marriage of my friends Ed and Liz. A beautiful location and a stunning wedding. And this is one photo (below) from it. Many natural images were taken but we felt one or two formal in one of the staterooms would be worthwhile.
Since then, I have photographed hundreds of weddings in the UK and abroad, each one special and distinctive in its own way. And that, for me, is the excitement of photographing weddings. It’s a major event in the couple’s lives, one that so much hard work and thought has gone into, and I am there to be a photographer capturing the spirit, laughter and enjoyment of the event so that the couple will have some special, long-lasting, professional pictures to look back on in years to come.
I have photographed weddings in Italy, USA and Mexico, not forgetting Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Oxfordshire, Essex, Yorkshire, Herefordshire, Kent, Sussex and Worcestershire.
ABOUT THE WEDDING
During the wedding day I will be there to capture the story of your day, from preparations to the first dance. Bride and groom preparations often make great pictures. There’s no obligation to have these but many people do. Sometime after the ceremony I will take you both away to a quiet and hopefully scenic spot for a short period of time to get images of you both together. The more natural the photos the better. A few might be posed but don’t worry if you never done this before – I’ll make it as easy as fun as possible. When planning your wedding, it’s always advisable to leave enough time to do this before the wedding breakfast.
For destination weddings and as an added extra for UK weddings, I like to get the opportunity to photograph you both (or individually) the day or week before. An informal session – possibly with the best man or bridesmaids – whatever you want. Fun pictures where you can all relax in front of the camera and have additional images for your wedding photo collection (see below). A pre-wedding shoot helps you to be more relaxed in front of the camera on the big day.
It’s often nice to have a few group formal pictures – with parents, aunts and uncles etc. Formals can take up quite a large amount of time so it’s always better to limit them to, for example: bride and groom with the main bridal party, bride and groom with bride’s parents/ groom’s parents and bride and groom with close friends/other relatives. Of course, this isn’t set in stone and I aim to get what you want!
If the weather is bright and hot, it’s better to take photos of the couple in early evening light when the light will be softer. This can be done in addition to pictures right after the ceremony.
How do I book?.
A booking fee of £400 secures your wedding date along with a signed booking form. Dates can be busy – especially on summer weekends – so contact me to check your wedding date is available. The booking fee is subtracted from the total cost of the booked package. The remainder is due at least 7 days before the wedding date.
Can guests buy prints?.
Yes! An online gallery is always made available where people can buy prints from small to large, view a slideshow and more (also see New Wedding Galleries post).
Albums and Books
We can do both. Wedding books are very popular and start from about £400.
Who wouldn’t want to get married on a sun-soaked beach, on a ski holiday in the Alps or in a Tuscan vineyard? Generally the price for destination weddings is the UK cost plus flights and accommodation. Get in touch for more details!
